If you have always wanted to straighten your teeth and have no desire to wear traditional metal braces, you could be a candidate for Invisalign. This computer generated system uses clear aligners to straighten your teeth in half the time. We are a certified provider, which means we have received the additional training required to place Invisalign.
Invisalign has a very high patient satisfaction rate - around 96%. It's easy to see why it's so popular, because of several key advantages over traditional braces:
• They are invisible. No one will know you're wearing them.
• Invisalign is much more comfortable without the irritation
that is typical with traditional wire and brackets.
• The aligners are removable. So you can eat, drink, brush
your teeth, and floss normally.
• The treatment is much faster. You will see results in
approximately 12 months and in many cases much
sooner.
There are a few disadvantages when compared to traditional braces:
• Patient participation is required.
• The sophisticated computer technology involved makes
Invisalign a little more expensive than traditional braces.
We will begin by performing a routine exam to make sure this method will be effective and safe for you. Photographs, detailed impressions, and x-rays will then be taken. The diagnostic information will be sent off to the Invisalign laboratory so a set of clear aligners can be specifically customized for you based on the tooth movement that is required.
These computer manufactured aligners apply pressure to your teeth that causes them to gradually reposition. When you receive your first set, simply snap them into place. At first they may feel a bit tight and over time your teeth will move. Every two weeks you will be instructed to insert a new aligner. This process is repeated until the desired results are achieved. You can expect a visit to our office every four to six weeks so we can have a look to make sure everything is looking okay.
This system is safe and effective for most people. Although, it may not be the right solution for every case of misaligned teeth. The teeth must be fully erupted so they may not be the best choice for children and teens. We can help determine if Invisalign is right for you.
